Chicago's Summer Tradition Since 1994

A Family-Run, Family-Oriented Kids Day Camp

It was Fred Greenburg’s dream to open a day camp in Lincoln Park, where neighborhood kids could feel safe and spend their summers having fun. Fred was a pioneer in the camping industry, fueled with ambition and a love of children that dates back to the 1960s, when he was a teenager working at Deborah Boys’ Club residential camp. He went on to direct a residential camp for children with disabilities in the 1970s and day camps in the Chicago suburbs and the city in the 1980s.

Together with his wife, Lynne, and children, Jodi and Mark, the Greenburgs built Fred’s Camp through hard work and quality customer service. Thanks to the amazing families who have enlisted happy campers, Jodi (Greenburg) Lasky and Mark Greenburg are proud to carry on a tradition that has spanned three decades.

Our Mission & Vision

AT FRED’S CAMP, OUR VISION is to provide a neighborhood summer camp experience that benefits the whole child — focusing on physical, emotional and personal development.

Several Fred’s Camp staff members — including administrators and supervisors — are former campers and educators. Jodi and Mark have carried on the many traditions that make Fred’s Camp summers so special: swim lessons, cook-outs, “Color Wars,” field trips, team building exercises and popsicles on a hot day.

OUR MISSION is to create a safe place where each kid succeeds with creative activities that help them build self-esteem, friendships through teamwork and fun memories.
